Our Story

The founder of Shower of Hope always had the deep desire to help people, always getting involved in anyway he could. As a young man, he became a volunteer firefighter where he spent five years learning about firefighting techniques, advance training in biohazard and chemical spills as well as heavy equipment and vehicle rescue. He eventually found himself in law enforcement working in the city of Philadelphia, unfortunately his career was cut short early one morning while he was on his way home from his shift when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He then spent the next 25 years in construction running his own company until another motor vehicle accident caused severe neck and back injuries which required him to have surgery to be able to walk again without falling.

At 42 years old, he starting seeing flashbacks of when his brother was killed in a motor vehicle accident. He was only ten at the time and his brother was just four years old. As weeks went by, he starting seeing more flashbacks of what happened until the whole tragedy played out in his mind of what happened that life changing day. He called his mother and explained the experience that he has been having. During the conversation, she explained that he had a really tough time dealing with what happened and that they tried medications and therapy with him but it wasn't helping. Both his parents were nurses and they knew there had to be something else that could help him. They turned to a hypnotist as a last ditch effort to help their suffering son. His mother explained that the hypnotist said to never bring up or talk about what happened until he brought it up. And after 35 years, he understood what had happened and was thankful that the hypnosis therapy worked for him.

About ten years ago, a very close friend of his created an organization after his own son, while on active duty in the military, suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and was suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He could not find the help that his son needed in a timely manner so he purchased an old school and started to create a rehabilitation facility to provide individuals like his son a place to go for assistance. Unfortunately due to complications arising from a vehicle accident his friend passed away. His family decided that they did not want to continue with the concept and shut it down, selling the building and equipment. It was at that point, our founder decided to research and find something to help our Veterans and First Responders that suffer with PTSD.

Thankfully he found a program and a system that he believes has the highest success rate to help those that suffer with PTSD . He has already begun the process in getting some of our volunteer's trained in order to help those in need.

Our heroes are suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and many other debilitating injuries and these heroes are not being properly cared for. Sure, there are organizations like the Veterans Administration and even some private organizations who claim to help these heroes. But DO They?

While many of these organizations make big claims of helping and caring, there are big obstacles that obstruct these heroes from getting the assistance and care they need, especially in a timely manner. Getting access to treatment can sometimes take several years. That's a lifetime to someone suffering with PTSD. In fact, the sooner our loved ones are treated, the better chances of their success. Sadly, if help is provided, if it comes at all, is usually in the form of medication .

At the Shower of Hope we don't believe that our heroes should wait for help! They didn't hesitate to help others by putting themselves in harms way and its time we give back by helping them.
